Transhumanism: Nightmares Becoming Reality?
Saturday, November 5, 2011 0:00 Comments OffThroughout history, all the examples we have examined and many that we have not have one common characteristic: Transhumans are often bigger, stronger, and more powerful than humans. Often they are magical or have some otherworldly characteristics. It is an old story…
Horse Tales
Friday, October 7, 2011 10:33 2 Comments…beautiful, powerful, majestic animals. They have been an important part of history since their first associations with man thousands of years ago. Horses and Adventure seem to go together naturally. There are so many movies and books detailing the migrations, wars, and pioneering settlements of man in which horses have played a key role that it is difficult to number such references. While I admire this animal for many reasons I am not an accomplished rider. Here in the USA, except in posh suburbs, perhaps, we do not practice the English style of horsemanship. Here, it could be best described as “American cowboy style.”

Mankind’s Total Useful Knowledge Divided into Four “Pillars”of Learning
Tuesday, September 13, 2011 0:15 No CommentsWe can use a metaphor of a great edifice supported by four pillars of knowledge to represent the sum total of Man’s Useful Knowledge. The major areas of human knowledge, since it is now, at our point in history, so extensive, can be divided up and organized in countless ways. There is no absolute canon [...]
Chasing Butterflies
Monday, August 8, 2011 13:55 5 CommentsButterflies are one of the most beautiful and elegant features of our planet and, for me, they embody the essence of “delight”and Freedom. They will ever remain, for me, a symbol of “Joie de vivre” and Freedom— so long as they stay far away from gigantic spider webs.(Somewhere in this thought, is a cosmic “Life” metaphor, I think.)
The Story of Ed Jones, The Storyteller : A Tribute
Thursday, August 4, 2011 0:48 1 CommentEd was so big and mean looking, that he was fearless because he knew that his size was a deterrent to any would-be attacker unless that person was really stupid and had a death wish. He was Powerful and agile but, in reality, as gentle as a lamb.
The Blogger’s “Paintbox” – Building A Better Vocabulary
Monday, August 1, 2011 0:55 No CommentsBloggers are, obviously, writers. Writers create imagery to communicate. It is the words we use and how we assemble them into sentences and Paragraphs that help us to communicate exactly what we want to convey to our readers. Our words are the components of our composition. They are the “paint,” the “colors,” that enable us [...]
The Art of the Blog
Sunday, July 3, 2011 0:26 8 CommentsAfter a while, many bloggers, new and established, come to a point where they recognize that blogging is an art. Blogging is not merely the setting down of words; not merely the recording of the thoughts of the moment, or one’s daily routine. The original weblogs started out like this but now have evolved into [...]
The Joy of Collecting Exotic Tropical Marine Shells
Thursday, June 16, 2011 23:34 18 CommentsI am a shell collector. I am seriously fond of seashells. When I was a child, I collected a lot of things and most of what I collected were natural objects. Among these were butterflies and rocks and minerals, fossils, beetles, frogs, turtles…I just loved collecting everything. There is something exciting for some people about [...]
Motherhood Instead of Some Other Hood – Guest Post
Thursday, June 16, 2011 21:03 No CommentsIn the previous post, Motherhood or Something Else? I discussed how some women seem to feel conflict when managing their role as Mother and seeking another non-traditional role in order to attain other worthwhile or meaningful personal goals. I wrote about this to spotlight a, so-called, “Lost-Self Syndrome,” a feeling which seems to characterize many Mothers who have [...]
