December 21,2012: The End of the World? Cataclysm or Commercialism?: Hoax or Horror?

The powerful earthquake that unleashed a devastating tsunami Friday appears to have moved the main island of Japan by 8 feet (2.4 meters) and shifted the Earth on its axis.

“At this point, we know that one GPS station moved (8 feet), and we have seen a map from GSI (Geospatial Information Authority) in Japan showing the pattern of shift over a large area is consistent with about that much shift of the land mass,” said Kenneth Hudnut, a geophysicist with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

Reports from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology in Italy estimated the 8.9-magnitude quake shifted the planet on its axis by nearly 4 inches (10 centimeters).

Recently a co-worker of mine approached me with a number of questions about the year 2012 and the “end of the world.” Apparently he saw a movie and then read a number of versions on various Internet sites, of what is supposed to happen then . He was genuinely worried; troubled by all the things he has seen and read about this upcoming, mysterious date and the unknown events it is supposed to usher in.

We discussed all the “end-of-the-world scenarios” including a pole-shift, the destabilization of the Earth’s orbit and gravitational field by “Planet X” (Nibiru, the 10th planet,) allignment of Earth with the center of our galaxy, asteroids, comets, planetary allignment with Earth and every sort of cataclysmic destructive event imaginable. The consensus is that there are many ways the end of the world could happen and that, while the planet would likely not disappear, civilization would.

To be honest, I was never really convinced about this controversial interpretation of the abrupt ending of the Mayan’s calendar on December 21, 2012. I always dismissed the archaeological discovery of this ancient South American Indian culture’s finite “calendar of doom” as commercial hype and I used to joke about it saying that the Mayan’s stopped calculating because they were tired and realized that they were not going to be around anyway, so “why bother?” Recently, however, I have come across some information, new to me, that caused me to stop smiling, “snap to attention,” and seriously re-examine this topic with an open mind.

The first adjustment to my attitude and beliefs came after hearing a radio interview with a researcher named John Moore on a radio show about conspiracy theories. Some people might roll their eyes and smile indulgently because of the theme of this radio program, but If what Mr. Moore is saying in his interview is true, it is understandable why some highly placed political forces might want to do their best to marginalize this researcher. In fact, it is likely that this is the only radio program wherein he could have an opportunity to share his research. What made me listen to this man instead of automatically pre-judging him as a wild-eye fanatic or “crackpot” visionary, was his astonishing resume. It is exceedingly impressive. This man served in the US military for many years and has a very distinguished service record characterized by fearlessness in extremely perilous combat situations. He served in Special Forces and in a number of sensitive Intelligence positions requiring secrecy and tremendous personal responsibility. The list of highly specialized and significant positions held by Mr. Moore during his career is so long, I don’t have adequate space to review it without making this post much longer. Finally, in civilian life, Mr. Moore is a homocide investigator and now a researcher. His researches into “global warming” long before it became the political “football” it has become, enabled him to discover some absolutely shocking information, so secret, it has been kept from the public for 30 years. John Moore’s resume shows him to be a man of great pragmatism, courage, honor and professionalism and for this reason, I listened to him when he spoke about his findings .

When John Moore turned his investigative acumen to the subject of global warming, he concluded that global warming is a hoax, intentionally perpetrated by many governments, as a cover to obscure the real geophysical events that have been scientifically predicted to occur on December 21, 2012. Mr. Moore presented his evidence and I could not refute his arguments which were disturbingly compelling.

You can listen to John Moore speak about his research on this link (unless some government officials decide to remove it):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drRMw_e9pN4

Coincidentally, one day after I heard the John Moore interview and was finally beginning to recover my sense of comfortable complacency, I received an E-book called

”2012: Secrets Unlocked.”

The author, James Paul Wagner, has done an excellent job of explaining what this year 2012 hysteria is all about. He has reviewed every significant end of world prophesy from ancient to modern times, and has masterfully tied them together, meaningfully, to make a convincing case that they are all talking about the same events. His conclusion? The world is about to change in some unimaginable way on December 21, 2012, because of some, as yet undefined, geophysical upheaval caused by astronomical events.

Well? That’s it? Someone is going to explain in great detail how ancient and modern seers have predicted the end of civilization? No. Not exactly. Mr. Wagner is convinced that his research is confirmation of facts about our solar system and what is about to unfold.

The most valuable part of this information however, is part 2, about how to prepare to survive whatever happens and part 3, financial survival. You can read more about this here:

Possibly it is just hallow(hollow?) head nevertheless, I dont grasp it. Come again? (What)is the lesson of this narrative? can someone please describe it to me ? Maybe it is my blonde hair kicking in but I am fairly bemused as to the line of reasoning. Thank You.

  6. admin says:

    August 15th, 2010 at 4:56 am

Greetings swatman. Since “Someone” is not available to describe “the lesson of this narrative,” I have volunteered to try and the first thing I want to examine is why you are “fairly bemused as to the line of reasoning,” in this post, when you have already admitted that you “…don’t grasp it.(?) ” To me, at least, not grasping something, means not understanding it; not understanding it means that reason, if it has been applied, has failed to unlock the meaning of the “narrative.” It is really not that complicated: I hope that the majority of readers understand that this is an “open post” discussing a popular and widespread speculation (with some accompanying anxiety and concern) of the latest “end of world scenarios” to present themselves in the collective global consciousness. It is a discussion to inform, not to instruct, so if you are looking for a lesson, instead of information, I can understand why you didn’t understand what the “lesson” was.

But my religious Ed teacher said something that’s kinda interesting…that all the bible isn’t true, it’s just the morals are(no follow link omitted)

  10. admin says:

    December 29th, 2010 at 12:08 am

I am not a teacher of religion or a religious scholar, but as I understand this issue, I can accept that everything in the Bible may not be literally true, but could be metaphorical illustrations for teaching purposes(such as the Parables of Jesus). It seems to me, however, that no person of deep and genuine faith would want to undertake the chore of selecting what is true and what is not. It seems wiser to follow this advice(paraphrased): “Take as much of this book as you can on Reason and the rest of it on Faith.”

Dear Slutty Girl-(actually, may I call you Alexa instead)? Thank you for your comment and encouragement. I do not expect everyone who reads this post to embrace it as truth, but I chose this topic because it is controversial and it seems that a lot of people want to read about this. While, bloggers get to write about whatever are their interests, they should always keep in mind such topics as their readers may want to read about also.

Yes. I agree. The incidence of any kind of violent or unusual weather makes people a little worried, even without the widespread awareness of a date that, supposedly means doomsday. We have a date with destiny, to be sure, but it is a “blind date” and whether it is a cataclysmic event or just a pleasant and ordinary day, we will not know for sure— until it is here. The challenge to bloggers writing about a popular topic is to present whatever information they find in an interesting and unique way. This “Doomsday” topic seems to already hold a strong appeal to curious people and, I expect, there will be more and more written about it the closer we get to the date. 73. admin says:

Everyone who has a blog may find themselves doing more research than they did when they were in school or at University. I think the best blogs have more information, more substance than “filler.” I try to offer up as much useful information as possible, especially when my purpose is to inform, although I may sometimes include material that is only for entertainment. Topics like “2012″ which have wide appeal and large numbers of commenters and opinion givers, are challenging to write about because many many people are writing about this and there is so much information available(both factual and false) that it is difficult to filter out the essential facts that can give us a proper understanding of the topic.
In the final analysis, we do the best we can. Thank you for your comment.

I am lucky that you came across my blog and happy you visited. This issue, the significance of the “Date with Destiny”, 2012 and the possible tribulations and mega disasters associated with it is BIG. This post is one of the most frequently read posts on this blog and people from all over the world are visiting to read about this. This is a topic that has strongly registered on the minds of the collective consciousness of humanity. People naturally want to know if there is a real threat and are trying to find out as much as they can in order to determine what the threat is and how real it is for them. If they decide there is reason to be concerned, then they want to figure out how they can best prepare for whatever “it” is. You are right in identifying this topic as “universal” Thank you for your comment.

good article, however I get a bit of trouble in understanding the last paragraph, can you please explain a little more in depth?

  79. admin says:

    February 5th, 2011 at 11:47 am

Sorry if something was unclear. I am not sure exactly which part of the paragraph was unclear to you because it was a paragraph of unconventional structure.

Was it: “The will to live; to survive, is strongly compelling, don’t you agree? ( I already purchased my copy.) In your relentless pursuit of Truth, be sure to consider an alternative to the above cosmic catastrophe, do check out:…etc?

Here, I meant that we all have a strong instinct for self-preservation and that’s why, if danger threatens we try to prepare for it so we can remain safe. I also give a link with a solid alternative view that invalidates the “‘planet-x’ near miss theory” as the possible cause of catastrophic conditions here on Earth.

The final sentences are simply my way of leaving the reader with a bit of philosophy – a few words of comfort
and encouragement so readers can leave feeling a bit more positive. To be honest, some people get very nervous and anxious when they read this sort of thing. I want to provide thoughtful posts but I do not want to cause my readers undue stress! :)

I hope this offers some clarity. I am glad you told me about your uncertainty. At least I had a chance to try to be clearer. If anyone else has a problem with this, I will, in that case simply rewite it Thank you for commenting

2012 End of the World… Do we truly expect this man-made calamity to occur in 2012, the year when life comes full circle as detailed in Bhagavad Gita of Hinduism! About 3600 years before came Lord Krishna… an avatar of his era (God manifest in human form). In present mankind awaited Bhagavan Kalki… an avatar of present era!

If present mankind awaited a gigantic turbulence in 2012 all results from mass karma performed by 7 billion people existing world wide! As per doctrine of mass karma… as we sow so shall we reap… nothing less or more! The events of 2012 result from our doing… karma performed by humanity in past few decades! Society truly has reached a point of no return!
