The Blogger’s World

Saturday, October 1, 2011 6:41 No Comments

Blogging offers a powerful way to communicate and share what is happening in your world. When I use this word “world,” I am, of course, referring to the local surroundings of a person and that person’s social environment. I am also referring to the realm of ideas. Herein is the basis, I think, of the incredible popularity of blogging among people in all walks of life: It is a way to express one’s unique point of view from one’s unique place in life. Humanity needs to communicate. All of the archaeological relics of past civilizations, the cave paintings, petroglyphs, bas-reliefs, hieroglyphics, scrolls etc., (see “The Story”) show this necessity to tell one’s story. Humanity is also very curious about everything. People need to know things too. These two natural characteristics of mankind, the need to tell and the need to know, are together, what drives this popularity of “the blog.”

The “Micro-Blog Post”

Thursday, August 4, 2011 23:07 No Comments

What I want to describe here is similar but is not exactly the same. I propose a “Micro-post” for a blog which could be described as a pithy, meaningful, well thought-out but very brief post that can appear on a “mini-blog site” or on a regular blog. This is a concentrated message of one sentence or several that is perhaps no longer than 300 words. There is, therefore, a lttle more allowance than one has on Twitter and you can fit a lot of meaningful thoughts in 300 words or less.

The Secret Appeal of Blogs

Friday, March 4, 2011 10:16 6 Comments

Since their inception, blogs have evolved. There are still blogs used to record the personal details of the life experiences of the blogger but now there are specialized, informational blogs that discuss favorite hobbies, like knitting, rock collecting, aquariums, pets, sports, cooking, candy, cupcake artistry, electronic gadgetry, toys, art, paranormal experiences and just about anything else that you can think of in which people are interested or in which they have some expertise.

The Story

Wednesday, February 23, 2011 22:27 15 Comments

“The Story” remains one of the most useful and sometimes, most powerful tools a blogger can use to communicate with his or her readers. There are two kinds of story: A story that is true; a story that is completely fabricated. Whether a story is true or fiction, it can be used by a writer to present a narrative that is purely for entertainment purposes, or to communicate a Truth, Moral, or, in the case of blogging, some kind of relevant information about the blogger’s theme or the topic of a post.

Blog content is amazingly diverse, from casual “chit-chat” and conversational gossip, to sophisticated, technical narratives. Using Comments in Posts on Your Blog

Saturday, December 4, 2010 12:05 5 Comments

I have already demonstrated in previous posts how comments can be used to write a new post. Sometimes when a blogger is looking for ideas for the next post, a review of comments in other posts can help you come up with something new. Even spam comments may be recycled this way ( see:Recycling Spam [...]

The Traditional or Journal Style blog

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 20:55 2 Comments

There are two basic types of blog and variations of these, as well.  The Traditional or Journal style blog is patterned after the original weblogs  of the 1990′s and are basically journal entries that record the blogger’s thoughts, opinions and feelings about whatever they want to discuss on a given day in their blogs.  It [...]
